Air Compressor Dryer

Compressor Air Dryer

Compressor air dryers are used to remove any water vapor that compressed air may contain. When you compress air, the dryer is very important because several kinds of damage can happen without it. Your compressor is more likely to suffer from corrosion if excess water is present. These devices are used both commercially and in industry, particularly in the painting and telecom industries.

Desiccant dryers are also called regenerative dryers, which is a term which refers to a wide range of dryers. In desiccant dryers, what happens is that basically compressed air goes through the pressure vessel that is filled with a porous desiccant material.

Still another type of dryer is a refrigerated dryer which uses a system of a twofold heat exchange system. The point in using a dual heat exchange is to cool warm air coming in with cold air going out. This allows for a smaller machine and keeps condensation from coming back.

A deliquescent dryer eliminates moisture from the air by using a hygroscopic material which is effective in absorbing water vapor that may be present. This material gradually dissolves and accumulates at the bottom of the vessel. The vessel will need to be drained and filled often so it can be quite annoying. The advantages to using this type of dryer are that it doesn’t need electricity, so it is good for remote places where power isn’t easily accessible.
